This is a fully remote role and is strongly preferred to be based in London, but other locations can also be considered.
Tasks
What are the main responsibilities of the role?
The Finance Manager will be working directly with our COO across a wide- array of tasks required to setup and scale an early-stage company. We need someone who is excited to get their hands dirty, to work broadly, and who has high levels of detail orientation and quality control. The role may include but not be limited to:
Ownership of the company’s financial and management accounting, reporting and control activities
- Leading all financial operations of the company including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, reconciliation, cash management and accounts payable/receivable and reporting into our COO
- Working with the investment team on project specific financial operations including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, reconciliation, cash management and accounts payable/receivable
- Working closely with our COO & Chief of Staff on budgeting & forecasting
- Establishing/Improving up our accounting and expense systems
- Aligning finances with our subsidiary in Indonesia, coordinating group accounts with our accountants, assisting with intracompany payments and intracompany tax structuring
- Setting-up robust reporting systems and processes with live daily, weekly and monthly financial visibility
- Reviewing, improving and updating finance SOPs
- Managing month-end reporting, year-end financial reporting and management accounts
- Producing and managing the set of management accounts – P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements etc. Ensuring accuracy of such
- Identifying financial risk, ensuring financial activity is in compliance across jurisdictions and implementing solutions to mitigate any issues
- Preparing & running payroll
- Handling company payments
- Assist with other tasks as required
What do we expect from you?
- 4-7 years of experience in a financial management role
- Accountancy qualification essential (ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified)
- Good background understanding of a wide range of financial practices and processes
- High attention to detail with great analytical, written and verbal communications skills
- An expert in spreadsheets, accounting software (Xero, Dext, Telleroo) and managing financial data
- Enthusiasm for learning and up-skilling quickly, (e.g. different processes required in other countries)
- Excellent numerical and data analysis skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously while managing multiple projects.
- A love of nature; a strong affinity with conservation and restoration of natural systems

- An understanding of nature-based solutions is desirable but not a must
